For some crazy reason I’ve always been utterly fascinated by North Korea. The people, the government, etc. Last night I watched a documentary on Netflix named “Crossing the Line”. It’s probably not the most interesting documentary for most, but I found it quite interesting.
What does this have to do with eating? Absolutely nothing, aside from the fact that Joe Dresnok, the former American soldier that defected back in the early 60’s and is the subject of the documentary, has been living in North Korea now for ~45 years and consisting on the typical rice rations that North Koreans living in Pyongyang subside on. And, unlike the relatively skinny North Koreans (native ones), Mr. Dresnok is fat. Could it be the rice? Food for thought….
